Luisa Caldwell

“We Are Not From Here” places a foreign landscape into the native, semi tropical environs of Key West.  The artist Luisa Caldwell has mounted a large commercially manufactured decorative mural of  northern deer and their habitat onto a 8’ x 13’ fabricated wood structure, and placed it within a popular sandy wooded pine area of Ft. Zachary Taylor State Park.   Referencing the travel and tourism industry of the Florida Keys, and displacement in general, Luisa has created a “Living Postcard”, and encourages tourists, and locals alike, to participate by signing the back.  

Luisa last showed with Sculpture Key West in 2008, where her “Posters” installation temporarily enlivened the facade of the bathroom building at West Martello.
