Like Michael Heizer, Walter deMaria, Robert Smithson and
other “earthworks” artists, Ann Labriola sees
the site as vital to the work itself. Her “Stargazer”
(1992) is the largest sculpted reef in the world and sits
5 miles off the coast of Key West. Other projects included
“The Desert Project” (1978) which involved hand
placing over 200,000 rocks weighing a total of 350 tons.
She works for the perfect union of art, nature and archaeology.
She resides in Key West.
